In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand, the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation (RBSO), in collaboration the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, is delighted to present the concert “Piano & Passion – Schumann’s Masterpiece”
The evening will be conducted by the distinguished Guest Conductor Sergey Smbatyan, the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, the Principal Conductor of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. The conductor has an extensive international engagement, and is committed to rejuvenating the classical music audiences and the promotion of contemporary classical music globally.
On this momentous occasion, the RBSO is honored to invite Ms. Liu Muyu, an internationally acclaimed young pianist, to perform Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54 and “Only for Love” by Academy Award-winning composer Tan Dun. Liu Muyu is a dynamic concert pianist who is praised for her orchestral sensitivity and chamber music finesse, Liu has collaborated with leading ensembles across Asia and beyond, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, and Manila Symphony Orchestra. She is a recipient of the President’s Honors Award, Sergei Babayan Piano Scholarship, and the William Kurzban Prize in Piano. Recent highlights include her world premiere of Tan Dun’s Percussion & Piano Concerto in Hong Kong, recital debuts in Tokyo and Shenzhen, collaborations with cellist Qin Li-Wei, and appearances with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Her artistry represents a new generation of Chinese musicians bringing global audiences closer together through music.
